All About Dave

THE BEGINNINGS

Guitarist and sonic iconoclast Dave Eichenberger has been exploring the sounds of the guitar in conventional and unconventional ways for over 40 years. Influenced initially by the Beatles, and later by British hard rock bands, he began experimenting with tape loops, completely unaware of those who had experimented in those same ways up to 35 years before. After studying music composition in college, he was inspired by ambient music pioneer Brian Eno and thus began exploring looping, guitar synthesis, and effects. Dave’s electric guitar playing combines his love of technique with the slow-building intensity of ambient composition. Since 2006, he's used his unique guitar style to perform and record with international singer/songwriter Julie Black. Dave is a Gibson GuitarsSeymour DuncanGraph-Tech, and Pig Hog Cable artist.

Reward Your Toil

The Collectives Project

Dave has worked on a project called Collectives, which consisted of 50 CDs, each an hour long. Funded in part from a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Cultural Affairs Division of the State of Florida, there was only 1 copy of each CD. Once bought, the music belonged to only the one owner. Dave has released a sampler CD from the 50 CD set to a wider audience. Dave's last recording project, Reward Your Toil, consisted of a DVD-Audio disc with 14 hours of music for quiet and reflection. The multimedia portion consisted of dozens of blog posts, outtakes, and a sampler from all 14 hours.

UBU: 32 Days of Balance

UBU: 32 Days of Balance

Dave's current project is called UBU (you be you): 32 Days of Balance. UBU consists of 31 15-minute pieces (with one bonus), one for every day of the month. The pieces can be used to start or end your day, re-focus your energy, and promote a sense of calm determination. These were recorded using the electric guitar, modified by several processors and looped in a way that constantly changes, evolving over time.
